Some Notes on our TTA Algorithm
Our algorithm calculates two metrics which serve as feedback on the quality of positioning:
1. The leg angle is computed. Most practitioners advise an angle of around 135 degrees for the TTA analysis.
2. The superimposition of the condyles of the femur is computed as a score from 50-100%. 100% means perfect alignment. If this number drops below 80% you may wish to re-take the radiograph for better positioning.
Our algorithm is intended for pre-surgical images of the stifle. When the algorithm runs on an image which includes post-operative metal (either TTA, TPLO, or other) the presence of that metal in the image may degrade performance of the algorithm, because we did not train on images that contained post-operative metal.
Note that the intended view is a medial-to-lateral radiograph of the limb that is against the table.
